Another great year in business, adding value to Taranaki and New Zealand businesses through digital solutions. We have been reflecting on what this year has brought and we are blown away by how much we have achieved and grown in one year (might have something to do with the donuts)! The team has chosen 10 highlights to show you some of the awesome work we have done in the past 12 months. A special thanks to our clients for choosing to work with us, it wouldn’t be the same without you!
The family is growing!
This year we welcomed four new team members: Jane, content writer, editor and project manager; Imogen, graphic designer and deli baking specialist; Stu, graphic designer and traffic controller. He manages the influx of work and keeps us organised! Tina joins the team on call, she is our Shopify specialist.
The Womad App was definitely one of the highlights this year. This easy to use app was the free festival guide, featuring artist profiles, stage schedules, and sitemap. It had more than 6000 downloads. WOMADers used it before, during and after the festival. A new feature of this year’s edition was the ‘Teach Me Te Reo’ section, a pronunciation guide for common Māori greetings and phrases.
The Latitude Homes project was another highlight. This nation-wide company gave us the opportunity to show them how a boutique marketing agency like Smokeylemon would help them improve their digital presence, facilitate the communications between their eight franchises, enhance their brand attributes and design the best possible user experience. After just three months of the rebrand and new marketing campaigns started, Latitude Homes recorded the highest month of sales in its 10-year history.
We love supporting good causes. Every November the guys in the studio get to feel a little more manly and grow their moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues. It is a fun and thoughtful way to support the cause and makes for wonderfully awkward photo opportunities!
Chris and Angela at Feron Property Management were finalists for the best property management website at the Leading Property Managers of New Zealand for the 2nd year running. Smokeylemon is stoked to have built and managed www.feronproperty.co.nz and of course, we were so excited about the cupcake delivery that morning!
See it in the city
See it in the City was a great project for our designers to get stuck into. It is a New Plymouth District Council initiative to bring vibrancy to the CBD through events and activities. It was born out of the Councillor’s 10 Focus Areas campaign where one survey topic was on creating a thriving CBD. The client needed the overall theme designed which flowed onto posters, social media and flags for use around the New Plymouth CBD. Jono, our senior graphic designer, was responsible for putting together the concept of this amazing initiative. With some inspiration and creativity, Smokeylemon was able to bring more vibrancy to the New Plymouth CBD!
Always looking to upskill, Mandy and our developers attended the #StripeConNZ in Wellington! StripeCon is a conference dedicated to learn and share knowledge about SilverStripe CMS/Framework -our favourite web development platform on earth.
Google Partner specialist challenge
In February Google surprised us using our testimonial to promote their Specialist Challenge. We are a certified Google Partner and we have the knowledge and experience to manage your Google Ads (the new name for Google AdWords) campaigns.
The winter brought Smokeylemon a new website that offers a better user experience, introduces a more consistent brand, follows best accessibility practices and is fully optimised for Search Engines. It helps to tell our story and explain our capabilities better - We love it!
We help, support and sponsor a number of Taranaki organisations, clubs and trusts. This year we renewed our commitment with Little Fighters, Taranaki Mountainairs, Taranaki Thoroughbred Racing and New Plymouth Yacht Club. From helping organise charity evenings to making sailing team logos, we love staying involved in our community.
